Using the Assessment Tool for Lingual Frenulum Function™©

Overview

Professionals need reliable tools to support babies regardless of the feeding method. Dr. Hazelbaker created The Assessment Tool for Lingual Frenulum Function™© (ATLFF™©) as a result of her work developing, formalizing and codifying the diagnostic criteria for tongue-tie in infants. The ATLFF™© remains the only valid and reliable tongue-tie screening and assessment tool for infants under six months of age regardless of feeding method. This module incorporates step-by-step instructions and video segments that demonstrate the proper use of each component of the ATLFF™© and provides learners a comparison of classification, assessment, and screening tools.

Course/Module Description

Dr. Hazelbaker developed some and formalized and codified all the diagnostic criteria for tongue-tie in infants. Her research on assessment and screening for tongue-tie has set a worldwide standard and forms the basis for many of the other proposed and yet-to-be researched screening processes. The ATLFF™© remains the only valid and reliable tongue-tie screening and assessment tool for infants under six months of age regardless of feeding method. In this module, Dr. Hazelbaker uses multiple video segments to illustrate the proper use of the ATLFF™©. Participants come away with a thorough understanding of the ATLFF™© and its proper application in clinical settings as a screening tool for infant tongue-tie.

The content in this module is re-evaluated every three years in accordance with ANCC criteria. This content will be re-evaluated and updated on or before March 30, 2023.
