Dr. Hazelbaker has been a therapist for over 30 years. She specializes in cross-disciplinary treatment and, to that end, has taken training in several modalities to assist her clients best. She is a certified Craniosacral Therapist, a Pre- and Perinatal Psychology Educator, a Rhythmic Movement practitioner, and an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. She maintains a private practice in Columbus, Ohio.
She earned her Master’s Degree from Pacific Oaks College (Human Development specializing in Human Lactation) and her doctorate from The Union Institute and University (Psychology, specializing in Energetic and Transformational Healing.) She holds certifications through the Upledger Institute and The Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Association of North America. She has taken specialized courses from renowned craniosacral teachers, including Carol Gray and Dr. Cathy Holway.
Her original research on tongue-tie, done in 1993, has changed clinical practice both in the USA and abroad. She authored the Assessment Tool for Lingual Frenulum Function™© (ATLFF™©) during her Master’s Degree program. In 2010, she revised her Master’s thesis on tongue-tie into a comprehensive book on the condition: Tongue-tie: Morphogenesis, Impact, Assessment and Treatment for Aidan and Eva Press and is currently working on the next edition. The ATLFF™© remains the only research-based tongue-tie screening process in infants under six months.
Recognized internationally, Dr. Hazelbaker is an expert on infant sucking issues and treatment of the same. She has used craniosacral therapy to treat infant sucking problems for nearly two decades with tremendous success and to date has performed almost 10,000 infant treatments.
She developed Sōmenos Process™ work after implementing a grounded theory study on how people heal for her doctoral dissertation. She trains therapists to use the Sōmenos Process™ to facilitate exceptional transformation in their clients.
Dr. Hazelbaker speaks globally on a variety of breastfeeding and developmental psychology topics and offers one-day to week-long courses that prepare lactation consultants and craniosacral therapists to address infant issues.
